Our Partner Language School in Salamanca & Granada, Spain
Mester
Academia Mester, established in 1991, is today a well-respected organization that specializes in teaching Spanish to foreigners. All language teachers are native speakers, have degrees in modern languages and have had wide-ranging and solid professional experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
The centrally-located schools are designed and equipped for teaching, with spacious modern classrooms, reference libraries, computer rooms with Internet access, assembly halls and common rooms for study and meetings, all of which are air-conditioned.
Key points about the program:
- Students are grouped into levels based on a placement test completed before leaving the US.
- There are four fifty-minute classes each morning, Monday through Friday
- The maximum number of students per class is ten.
- In the first two classes (grammar), students study different grammatical structures and their practical applications.
- In the second two classes (conversation), vocabulary and colloquial expressions are analyzed.
- Students have the opportunity to earn up to three semester units of credit* through The University of Southern Mississippi, a fully accredited US university. These credits are transferable to most accredited universities and colleges in the United States.
*There is an additional cost for the university credit option.
Our Partner Language School in Nerja, Spain
Escuela de Idiomas “Nerja”
The school was established in 1980. Today it is a highly reputable language institute that specializes in teaching Spanish to foreigners. All language teachers are native speakers and have had solid professional experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
The school has a range of educational resources, including a bookstore, library, multimedia room, & Internet terminals (small fee). There is also an on-site café with a lounge & beautiful Andalusîan patio. This, together with the library, is located at the school’s cultural activity & communications center – just a two-minute walk from the main part of the school.
Key points about the program:
- Students are grouped into levels based on a written and oral placement test taken before leaving the US.
- Classes take place Monday – Friday.
- There is a maximum of ten students per class.
- The course is comprised of four fifty-minute sessions per day.
- Students will have conversation classes, oral and written exercises, structured grammar, audio & video practice drills, and, depending on their levels, conversation on topics such as Spanish & Latin American culture & civilization.
- In addition, there will be practical exercises in reading, composition & vocabulary.
- Students have the opportunity to earn up to three semester units of credit* through The University of Southern Mississippi, a fully accredited US university. These credits are transferable to most accredited universities and colleges in the United States.

Our Partner Language School in San Sebastian, Spain
Lacunza
Lacunza–ih–San Sebastian, established in 1986, is a prestigious language school that specializes in teaching Spanish to foreigners. All language teachers are native Spanish speakers, with university degrees in the teaching of Spanish.
International House (ih) is a worldwide organization with 130 language schools in 30 countries, with each affiliated school operating independently.
The school has a range of educational resources including a library, computers with free Internet access, free WIFI connection and a range of DVDs that are available for students. The school has a fantastic location in the center of the city, only a fifteen-minute walk from the beach.
Key points about the program:
- Students are grouped into levels from complete beginners to advanced proficiency, based on a placement test.
- Classes are Monday through Friday for two weeks.
- There is a maximum of twelve students per class.
- The course is comprised of three hours and forty-five minutes of class per day.
- The daily class schedule is the following: first session 9:30AM – 11AM, thirty minute break, second session 11:30AM – 1PM, fifteen minute break and third session 1:15PM – 2PM.
- Emphasis is placed on grammar in the first session of each day, while conversation is the focus during the remaining two. Current events are discussed using newspaper articles, films and documentaries.
- Students have the opportunity to earn up to three semester units of credit* through The University of Southern Mississippi, a fully accredited US university. These credits are transferable to most accredited universities and colleges in the United States.
